A global pandemic, fewer connections with people in real life, children not attending school in-person, politics, and isolation, have all made the past year pretty difficult for a lot of people. As a result, we are seeing a significant increase in mental health concerns in the workplace. Some people will be experiencing mental health issues for the first time, others will have increased symptoms and for some, they will go to work and feel the same as they did pre-pandemic. Though mental health symptoms and/or Neurodiversity are becoming more common among employees and customers in the workplace, many try to keep their symptoms hidden, due to shame and stigma.
In this session we will talk about the different aspects of mental health and how it plays a role in the workplace. Participants will come away with the following information:
● An understanding of the difference between Mental Health, Mental Illness, Psychiatric Disorders, Mental Wellness & Neurodiversity.
● An understanding of how to treat and interact with a co-worker with mental health diagnosis.
● Action to take if they have a concern regarding mental health in the workplace.
● General rules of respect.
